With its five altered notes, the Natural Minor is a perfect choice for playing minor keys in 2nd position (Cross Harp). They make it much easier to play musical genres that would be clearly limited with a standard tuning. Even players with advanced techniques would still not have the chords and minor scale notes available on a diatonic harmonica that the natural minor tuning offers.

It is marked for keys in the 2nd position.

Available in 12 keys from Dm to Dbm.

Helpful charts for selecting keys are included with each Lee Oskar harmonica.

NATURAL MINOR

1st position (Straight Harp): Dorian

2nd position (Cross Harp): Natural Minor + Major Parallel

Understanding 1st/2nd position:

1st position (Straight Harp) begins with an exhaled blow note (blow), 2nd position (Cross Harp) begins with an inhaled draw note (draw). Although it is possible to play other positions on a harmonica and thus many different keys, most players only use these first two positions.

Understanding Altered Tuning:

Unlike standard diatonic harmonica tuning, altered tuning changes individual notes on the instrument. This results in different tone material and faster access to certain styles, scales and sounds.
